Adult and Senior Behavioral Health
Bayonne Medical Centerís Adult Behavioral Health Service is an acute, short-term program for individuals 18 years and older in need of a secure, therapeutic environment. We treat all major psychiatric disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Psychoses, and Schizophrenia. The program is designed to quickly return patients to their optimal level of functioning outside the hospital through an intensive, structured, physician supervised program that coordinates seamlessly with your medical care. Bayonne Medical Centerís Senior Behavioral Health Service is an acute, short term program for geriatric patients in need of secure, therapeutic environment 24-hours a day. Patients admitted to the inpatient service have an acute primary psychiatric diagnosis and exhibit severe symptoms, which may include one or more of the following:
- Cognitive Impairment i.e.: Alzheimerís/Dementia with behavioral disturbance
- Suicidal thoughts/attempts
- Sleep or eating disturbance
- Severe agitation
- Severe anxiety
- Thoughts of harming others
The Adult and Senior Behavioral Health Services also provide: admissions assessments, development of appropriate medication regimen, individual and group therapy, patient and family education, discharge planning/placement assistance, on-site assessments, individualized treatment planning led by a psychiatrist and integrated follow-up with referring physician and other health care providers.
Bayonne Medical Center provides Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). ECT is an effective type of treatment for individuals with major depression and other psychiatric disorders.
