Bayonne Medical Center Kicks Off its Employee of the Month Program

Bayonne N.J. - May 2010 -- Bayonne Medical Center "Employee of the Month" for May was Veronica Salamon, R.N. who was recognized at an awards ceremony and celebration.

The recipient of the May "Employee of the Month" was Veronica Salamon, RN Born and raised in Bayonne, Ronnie began her career here at Bayonne Hospital back in 1970 as a Nurses Aide while attending the Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating nursing school in 1972, she stayed on as an RN. In late 1972, she moved to Florida for a few years where she worked as a RN in Miami.

Since returning to her roots here in Bayonne, Ronnie has been a dedicated member of the BMC family as a full-time Registered Nurse in ICU/CCU for the last 34 years. (Since December 1975) Ronnie is truly a team player working well with her peers as well as her compassion for her patients and their families during difficult situations.

Ronnie is a strong and consistent leader who inspires others and supports quality outcomes. She most recently demonstrated leadership qualities in the 2009 initiative to stop blood stream infections.

Ronnie hold a BS in Nursing, a Masters in Health Administration as well as a Certification for Critical Care and was a previous recipient of the Employee of the Month in September 2005.

"Veronica exhibits leadership and a commitment to Bayonne Medical Center, the patients who are cared for by the hospital, her peers and physicians", said Pat Whipkey, Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services. Daniel A. Kane, President and CEO indicated that "Ronnie Salamon embodies all of the values that Bayonne Medical Center considers important to fulfilling its mission and is a role model for all to emulate".

Veronica received a $1000 check, one month of complimentary parking and a celebration among her peers.
